Abstract
The timing of implant placement is paramount for the treatment planning in the anterior maxilla. Both immediate and delayed implant placement are known to produce predictable outcome in terms of implant survival. However, careful case selection is required to achieve a successful outcome. Furthermore, correct surgical protocols should be undertaken to achieve optimum esthetics. The aim of this study was to introduce two cases in the anterior maxilla that have been restored by immediate implantation and type 3 implantation following ridge preservation. The esthetic outcomes of the two cases have been evaluated using the pink and white esthetic scores. For the restoration of a single-tooth gap in the anterior maxilla, immediate implant and implant placement after ridge preservation can both produce acceptable esthetic outcomes. Implant placement after ridge preservation, in particular, can be a useful treatment option if initial fixation cannot be achieved by immediate implantation.
